Samarium(III) tris(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionate) - Introduction
Tris(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionato)samarium(III) is an organometallic complex with the chemical formula Sm(TMHD)3. It is a solid substance in the form of powder or crystals.
Nature:
1. good solubility: soluble in some organic solvents such as ethyl acetate, dimethylformamide, etc.; but insoluble in water;
2. thermal stability: not easy to decompose under high temperature conditions;
3. good smoke gas sensitivity: can be used as a component of aerosol, used in smoke generator.
Use:
Tris(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionato)samarium(III) is mainly used in the following fields:
1. Optical materials: as additives for blue or white luminescent materials or radioactive luminescent materials;
2. organic synthesis: as a catalyst or reaction additives, can be used in organic synthesis reaction of oxidation, reduction and olefin polymerization reaction;
3. Display device: as a part of light-emitting diode (LED) material.
Preparation Method:
In the preparation of Tris(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionato)samarium(III), a coordination reaction is often used for synthesis. The desired product is obtained by thoroughly reacting the samarium salt with 2,2, 6,6-tetramethyl -3,5-heptanedionic acid in a suitable solvent, followed by appropriate isolation and drying steps.
